Michael Duane Swanson, age 30, of Mankato died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2013 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Michelle Hargrave, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Michael was born November 10, 1982 to Stephen D. and Barbara A. (Sanftner) Swanson in Mankato. He was a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He loved teaching at Lee's Champion Tae Kwon Do. He loved playing games with his friends and was a founding member of Lord of the Rings on-line. He loved teasing his nieces and nephews. He also loved cooking and trying different things.
Michael is survived by his mother, Barb Swanson of Mankato; father, Steve (Tammy) Swanson of Mankato; three siblings, Tommy (Melissa) Swanson and their children, Brandon and Kaitlyn of Janesville, Dawn (Emmett) Nelson and their son, William of Hermantown, Rob (Paige) Swanson and their children, Quinn and Cooper of Mankato; step-sister, Elizabeth Sterling of Radford, VA; grandparents, Ginny May and Duane Swanson; special friends, Tom and Terri Norris and their children, Alex and Autumn of Mankato; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Elvera Sanftner.
