Clinton Elster Moore, 92, of Paducah, died Saturday afternoon, December 6, 2008, at Morningside Assisted Living.

Mr. Moore was born in Pike County at Shelby Gap, Kentucky, and was a graduate of Dorton High School. He was a resident of Paducah for 54 years where he was a member of Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired automobile salesman and dealer. He was a Past Master of the Jenkins Masonic Lodge F. & A.M. No. 856, from which he received a 50-year pin. He was an honorary member of the Paducah Plain City Masonic Lodge F. & A.M. No. 449 where he also received a 50-year pin. He was an avid horseman, marksman and hunter. He was truly devoted to his family.

He is survived by Mary Opal Baldwin Moore, his wife of 67 years; his sons, John C. Moore and wife Phyllis of Paducah, and Tom Moore and wife Aliese of Benton; his daughters, Shirley Ann Moore Menendez and husband J.S. and Nancy Moore Waldrop and husband Gregory, both of Paducah and Jayne Moore Waldrop and husband Alex of Lexington; 10 grandchildren: Mark Menendez and wife Donna, Greer Waldrop and Anne Waldrop, all of Paducah, Jennifer Moore and Angela Moore (Michael Schnuerle) of Louisville, Amanda Moore (Jason Vance) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Katie Moore of Brooklyn, N.Y., Evan Moore of Gainesville, Fla., and Alexander Waldrop and John Waldrop of Lexington. He was the great-grandfather of Caroline Menendez and Max Menendez, both of Paducah and Henry Vance and Ada Vance, both of Murfreesboro; a sister, Kathleen Moore Morgan of Lexington; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Angeline Greer Moore, and a brother and a sister.

Visitation will be at Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church today, December 8, 2008, from 4 until 6 p.m. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 6 p.m.

The funeral service will be at Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008, with the Rev. Dr. H. Gregory Waldrop officiating. Additional visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Mount Kenton Cemetery. Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
