Memorial services for Lucy McFadden, 89, of Carthage, Texas will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson, Texas. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the memorial service. McFadden died Oct. 6, 2013 in Carthage, Texas.

Lucy Cortez Skinner McFadden was born March 26, 1924 in Jacksonville, Texas to the marriage of William Albert and Nettie Phillips Skinner. She was raised and graduated schools in Timpson, Texas, later marrying Louie V. McFadden and they celebrated 46 years of marriage before he preceded her in death. Lucy worked at the lockerplant and the Timpson egg farm and for Panola General Hospital Cafeteria for 31 years. She loved flowers, quilting, cooking and was known for the best fried chicken. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Billy, Paul, and Lewis; and sisters, Opal, Virgie and Ethel.

McFadden is survived by her son, Billy Mack McFadden and wife, Sandra, of Magnolia; daughter, Janie Ruth Vanderfifer of Carthage; grandchildren, Duane McFadden and wife, Ann, of Conroe, Lori Polan and husband, Troy, of Montgomery, Kelli Smith of Nederland, Lance Johnson and wife, Chelsea, of Longview, Kevin Vandififer of Carthage; twelve great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
