James W. Basler, age 58, a Manitowoc resident, died Sunday evening, March 3, 2013 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
He was born on September 7, 1954 in Manitowoc, son of the late Roger G. & Delores (Getchell) Basler Sr. On May 21, 1977 he married the former Mary Maples at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Jim was founder/owner/operator of a homecare service in Manitowoc as well as founder/operator of Crossroads Ministries in Manitowoc. He loved to help others and was involved for 20+ years with a Christmas adopt a family program.
Survivors include his wife: Mary Basler, Manitowoc; a son and daughter-in-law: Anthony & Nou Basler, Green Bay; a daughter: Sarah Basler & fiancé Joshua Kunstmann, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Ariel Basler and Hannah Kunstmann; five sisters and three brothers-in-law: Sherry Bingman, Manitowoc, Gloria & Joseph Alears, Montana, Lori & Duane Blazer, Manitowoc, Tina & Al Bruckner, Manitowoc, Jane Carter; two sisters-in-law: Kathy Basler, Reedsville, Lynn Maples, Manitowoc; and a special friend: Jordan Jaensch. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Basler and Roger Basler Jr.; a nephew: Timothy Alaers and a brother-in-law: Jerry Bingman.
Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 until 12:45 p.m.
