Mrs. Masterson is survived by her husband, Ernest Leroy Masterson; two daughters: Sharon (Jerry) Yoder of Fairview and Cynthia Masterson of Mio; one half-sister, Anna Mary Hochstetler of Elkhart, Ind.; one half-brother, Ray (Gladys) Hochstetler of Goshen, Ind.; granddaughter, Sarah Yoder; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents and a half-sister, Janet Miller, preceded her in death.
Elsie was born July 16, 1920, in Marshall County, Ind., to John Ivan and Katie Ann Hochstetler.
She married Ernest Leroy Masterson on Dec. 14, 1941, in Nappanee. Leroy's work took him nd Elsie to live in several areas of the country, including Arizona, Utah and Indiana. She was employed as a cashier at Schultz's Dime Store in Nappanee and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Elsie performed on live radio as a pianist with her husband and children on the "Come Let Us Reason Together" program sponsored by The Northwood Chapel, airing on W.H.M.E., the Christian Radio Station from South Bend, Ind. Elsie and Leroy moved to Fairview in August 1989. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed both reading and crocheting.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 23. at the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Mio, with Pastor Russell Bowman and Pastor David Barker of The New Beginnings Foursquare Gospel Church of Mio officiating.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview. Arrangements were handled by Orr Funeral Home,Mio.
Memorial donations may be made in Elsie's memory to The AuSable Valley Home, Hospice of Michigan, New Hope Assembly of God Church or New Beginnings Foursquare Church.
