Helen Wilma Fugate Gibson Vaughn, born March 10, 1918 in Ottumwa, Iowa, went to her heavenly home Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Life Care Center of Morristown.
She belonged to Shephard's Chapel Baptist Church where she was an Adult Sunday School Correspondent and Treasurer for many years. She also taught a Sunday school class.
Helen enjoyed church, gardening and travel. She was a member of the Rogersville Senior Citizens. She sang with the Surgoinsville Silver Bells Choir for 10 years. Her neighbors and dear friends, Hazel, Darrel, Audrey, Robert, Kim, and Tim were a blessing. Thanks go out to her Home Health Care workers and the care givers at Life Care Center in Morristown.
She was preceded in death by the Reverend Allen Gibson and the Reverend Wiley Vaughn; sons, Jack and Jimmy Gibson and grandson, Greyson Gibson.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Eddie) Briggs of Morristown, Carolyn (Ray) Wright of Mt. Clemens, MI; grandchildren, Greg, Mitch, Rich, Nancy, Letsa, Garrison, Blake, Brooke, Brittaney; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Wesley, Eric, Allison, Coltin, Jaden, Sawyer, Cody; sister, Eunice Gibson of Rogersville; brothers, Ralph Fugate of Indiana, Bruce (Wilma) Fugate, Clay (Nila) Fugate of Rogersville; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October, 19, 2013, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville.
Funeral services will follow with the Rev. John Parrott, Jr. officiating.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
