Norman Gierke, 77, 18914 Twin Bay Lane, Kiel died unexpectedly on Feb. 16, 2003 at his home. He was born Jan. 27, 1926 in rural Kiel, a son of the late Helmuth and Meta Karstaedt Gierke.
Norman served with the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. On Feb. 24, 1954 he married Carol Lehrke in Kiel. Norman owned and operated Gierke's Auto Service in Kiel and Cedar Lake from 1967 to 1988, when he retired.
He enjoyed bowling and racing, both at Chilton and Plymouth. Norman was a member of the Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Association and a charter member of the Louis Corners Snow Birds. Norman enjoyed boating and spending time on Cedar Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; his children, Jeff (Lori) Gierke, Dan (Tammie) Gierke, and Mark (Barb) Gierke, all of Kiel, Theresa (Craig) Lyon of Auckland, New Zealand, Tim (Lisa) Gierke and Tom (Sarah) Gierke of Sheboygan Falls. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren; one brother, Ray Gierke.
A funeral Mass will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel with the Rev. Loren Nys, SDS officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
