LUCASVILLE - JOEY DEAN THOMAS, 43, of Martin Cemetery Road, Lucasville, Ohio, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Southern Ohio Medical Center Emergency Room.

He was born November 16, 1969, in Cleveland, Ohio, and is the son of Dorothy Free Thomas of McDermott and the late James Thomas.

Surviving are his former wife of 22 years, Pamela Bayless; fiance, Samantha Adkins; one son, Devon Thomas of Lucasville, Ohio; two daughters, Madyson Thomas of Lucasville, Ohio, and Destinie Ireland and husband Dustin of Hubert, North Carolina; his future step-sons, Korey and Tjaden Adkins of Garrison, Kentucky; three brothers, Jim Thomas and Bill Thomas of McDermott, Ohio, and Danny Thomas; four sisters, Betty Thomas, Kathy Thomas and Marie Thomas, all of McDermott, Ohio, and Gail Loper of Columbus, Ohio.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Thomas.

Joey was a former employee of M&J Industries for 22 years and was currently employed with Norfolk & Southern Railroad as a Carman. He was a 1988 graduate of Northwest High School.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McCullough Baptist Church with Rev. Robert L. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Botkin Funeral Home in Otway and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
