Italian Air Force General. He is best remembered as one of the pioneers in the history of the Italian Air. General Nobile became famous worldwide for his two transatlantic flights in airships across the North Pole performed in 1926 on board the airship Norge and two years later aboard of the airship Italia. After high school, he attended the University of Naples graduating in industrial engineering. After winning some competitions with the Civil Engineering Department and the Ministry of Railways, a few years later he attended a course of Aerotecnica held in Rome by Gaetano Arturo Crocco, designer and builder of the first Italian military airship which flew for the first time in 1908.
