Miss Kay Frances (Norton) Strickland, age 67 of Beulaville, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston.

A memorial services will be conducted 12:00 pm Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Padgett Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, Wallace. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Terry Sugg of Grifton, NC and Kim Creech of Cramerton, NC, three grandchildren, Jason Creech and wife Kayla of Beulaville, NC, Justin Sugg and wife Megan of Colorado Springs, CO, and Nicholas Sugg of Grifton, NC, a great granddaughter, Adalade Creech, a brother, Earl Van Munford and wife Geraldine of Lagrange, NC, a former son-in-law, Alpon Sugg of Seven Springs, NC and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Born November 26, 1945, Miss Strickland was the daughter of the late Jimmy and Nell (Mumford) Norton and was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Brandy Lynn Sugg and Joseph Bruce Sugg. Kay graduated high school at Contentea High School in 1963. After high school, Miss Strickland became a phlebotomist and worked for more than 45 years in the field that she loved. For the past 22 years, Kay worked at the Kinston Medical Specialists. When possible, Kay would attend church at Deep Run Baptist Church. She also enjoyed working in the yard, crafts and her two special dogs, Lucy and Scruffy.
