Ralph is the only child of Paul & Christine that used/continued to use the last name of Probstfeld (without the "i") instead of Probstfield.

Ralph Lawrence Probstfeld 88, born on September 25, 1920 in Verona, MO, went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2009.

Ralph proudly served his country during WWII aboard the USS Portland earning commendations for his service in Guadalcanal, the Aleutian Campaign, and in Tarawa Atoll.

As a brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Ralph's spirit touched and enriched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed. As an accomplished carpenter, his efforts can be seen along the foothills of Southern CA, where he lived with Madge, his wife of 56 years until his move to Tucson in 2001.

Ralph is survived by his sister, Caroline McNerney of Mount Vernon, MO; his daughter, Carol Probstfeld Murphy of Tierra Verde, FL, and his son, Michael Probstfeld; daughter-in-law, Celia Cosico-Probstfeld; granddaughter, Kayla Cosico-Probstfeld and grandson, Zachary Cosico-Probstfeld of Tucson, AZ.

Services were held Monday, September 7, 2009, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Tucson, AZ.

The obituary states that Madge was Ralph's wife of 56 years. Note that Madge died on 16 Apr 2004 which means that they were married for 56 years and 1 day.

The 1930 US Census shows that Paul Probstfeld, 53, and his wife, Christine, 42, lived at Pleasant Ridge Township, Barry County, Missouri. Living with them were son Paul Jr., 20; daughter Ruth, 17; son Edgar, 16; daughter Caroline, 14; son John, 11; son Ralph, 9; son Lawrence, 7; son Clarence, 5; son Victor, 3 yr 2 mo; and son James, 1 yr 7 mo.

The 1940 US Census shows that Ralph Probstfield, 19, lived at Polk Township, Christian Co., Missouri. Ralph was a lodger in someone else's household. This census shows that in 1935 Ralph lived on a farm in rural, Lawrence County, Missouri.

03 Apr 1948: Ralph and Madge Fern Newell received their Marriage License in Los Angeles County, California.

15 Apr 1948: Ralph and Madge were married at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1321 S. Mariposa Ave, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. This was Ralph's first marriage and Madge's second marriage.

16 Apr 2004: Madge died (SSDI)
