Walter J. Staab, earned six battle stars while writing public relations dispatches for the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was stationed in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland and central Europe from March 1942 to September 1945.
Mr. Staab, 79, died of a heart attack in Medina General Hospital.
He was a retired advertising manager for Penton Publishing in Cleveland. Mr. Staab, who was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Brookpark Parma Council, moved to Medina six years ago.
He is survived by wife, Marie: four daughters, Walene of Dublin, O., Mary Ann of Strongsville, Kathleen of Cinncinati, Therese of Dayton; three sons, Richard of Medina, Christian of Parma and Timothy of Parma; sister, Margaret Bandel.
