Anchorage resident Christopher Shane Stark, 37, died April 28, 2004, at Providence Alaska Medical Center of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A graveside service was held at Fort Richardson National Cemetery, where his ashes will be scattered.

Mr. Stark was born Jan. 1, 1967, in West Branch, Mich. He became an Anchorage resident in 1973 and attended Dimond High School. He was also in the U.S. Navy as an electronic technician serving in Subic Bay and the Philippines aboard the USS Samuel Gompers. He received a letter of commendation for superior performance at the U.S. Naval Station, Republic of the Philippines. Mr. Stark also worked at Alaska Fiber Star (WCI Cable) as a system technician and at Schlumberger. He attended Change Point Church and was assistant youth soccer coach for the Boys and Girls Club. Mr. Stark enjoyed motocross, camping, skydiving, flying, playing with his children, spending time outdoors, practicing soccer with his son and daughter and landscaping. His family states: "Chris was very loving to his family and friends; he was a devoted dad. Chris was always exploring and inventing; from excavating 'dinosaur' bones in the crawl space with his son, Nick, to designing a bomb chute for his remote control airplane. Chris' family is also very proud of his military service, and they will all miss him very much. He is an instrument of God's peace."

He is survived by his wife, Heather; children, Megan, Nicholas and Tyler; father, John Stark; mother, Marie Stark; sister, Sherry Stark, and her children and grandson; and brothers, Clint, Scott, Steve, Chuck and their wives and children. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made for his children at Alaska USA Federal Credit Union. Arrangements are with Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary.
