Brent B. Mackay 1923 ~ 2009 Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Brent B. Mackay, age 85, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, March 28, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He died following a series of strokes. Born August 19, 1923, in Murray, Utah to parents William Arthur Mackay and Sarah Alice Bawden. Married Jeannine Roper, October 8, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Brent grew up in Granger, Utah, graduated from Cyprus High School, where he was Student Body Vice President, also graduated from LDS Business College. He served in the US Navy for three 1/2 years during World War II. Life long active member of the LDS church, serving as Bishop, High Counselor, High Priest Group Leader and Scoutmaster. Member and Master of Ceremonies of Olympus Male Chorus for 10 years, which he dearly loved. He also sang in various male quartets, Brent loved the sound of a good male chorus above all. Successful owner operator of Arctic Circle Drive In's for 30 years, giving many of the local youth their first employment opportunity. His children and grandchildren cherish fond memories of camping, fishing and family outings at Brent's beloved Blacksfork. Brent will long be remembered for his quiet dignity, integrity and compassion which have proven to be an example for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in whom these great attributes will continue as his legacy. Survived by wife of 61 years, Jeannine; six children, Suzanne (Marty) Christiansen; Nancy Mackay; Lynette (Mark) Stevens; Alison (Craig) Gunther; Russ (Janet); Scott (Cheri); 23 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Regene Mackay and Miriam Mackay. Preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and one grandchild, Erik Christiansen. The family wishes to thank Harmony Hospice and Home Health Care for their loving, compassionate service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the Brighton 3rd Ward, 2327 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) Friends may call Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and the day of the service at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates. Grandpa thanks for your jokes, "Ya gotta million of 'em!"
