Running, hiking, kayaking, fishing, reading, gardening and cross country are the hobbies of G. Lee Terry, 64, who died while hiking the Menan Butte. Born in Rexburg, a son of Learin A. Terry and the late Edna Grover Terry, Lee attended schools in Archer and Rexburg, graduating from Madison High School, Class of 1959. After spending two years in Sweden, he graduated from Utah State University, Class of 1968, with degrees in political science and education. Teaching U.S. history and world gerograph in Madison School District for 31 years, he was Madison High School cross country coach for 14 years. Active in the Idaho Education Association, National Education Association, Rexburg Chamber of Commerce and the Madison County Democratic Party, he ran for state Legislature in 2000. Competing 33 marathons throughout his life, including the Boton and New York City marathons, he married Rhonda Hammond in 1967 and had two children, Chera and Crista. Divorced, he married Judy Irene Smith Smith in 1991. Spending the last fifteen years traveling in Western Europe and the United States, both enjoyed running, hiking and the outdoors. Recently moving to Idaho Falls, he loved his two grandchildren, Chelsea and Tiana. Besides his wife, and children, Chera Forcazio and Crista Terry, he is survived by his father, Learin Albert Terry, a sister, Jennie Lyn Giggard and a brother, Doug Terry. His mother preceded Lee in death.
