Death of a Venerable Resident.
Mr. Benjamin Minium, who had been ill for some months, expired last night at his former home and now the residence and private boarding-house of Mr. Chas. Reeder, East Fifth street. Mr. Minium was a native of Crawford county and with his wife kept one of Meadville's most fashionable hotels in the early days; his wife kept the boarding-house of Fifth street for a great many years and had the reputation of having the finest boarding-house in Erie, but her death five years ago left the old gentleman alone. He has some relatives in Meadville and Woodcock, and Mrs. Dr. C. H. Harvey, of this city, is a niece. Mr. Minium was 81 years of age. He was an eccentric old gentleman, but was very popular and had quite a reputation in his early days as a violin player. He played the instrument in the old style and in a most enjoyable manner to those who knew him best.
