On April 22, 1863 Sgt. Robert H. Menaugh served aboard the Steamer Tigress, the flagship of the Union fleet during the battle for Vicksburg. As a result of his exemplary service aboard the steamer Tigress as it ran the Vicksburg Blockade, on August 31, 1863 Robert H. Menaugh was promoted from 1st Sergeant to 1st Lieutenant.

I received his civil war pension file from NARA and a document from the examining doctor stated that Robert died on March 18, 1885.
