Mrs. Edwards died Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Born in San Diego, CA, she was a daughter of the late Folkey L. and Anabel Weibzahn Johnson. She was the wife of the late Col. Jerry S. Edwards.
Mrs. Edwards was a graduate of Dexter High School, Ann Arbor, MI, and attended the University of Michigan. She married Jerry S. Edwards in 1952 and supported her husband's service to our country throughout their 44 years of marriage. She was a member of the Officers Wives Club. A published poet and writer, she wrote a column in the Army Times. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Dogwood Garden Club, North Springs Garden Club, Midlands Stroke Club and volunteered with the Girl Scouts and the Red Cross. She worked as a designer at Hampton Kitchen. She loved cooking, sewing and landscaping but most of all – her family.
She is survived by a son, Mark Johnson Edwards (Lisa) of Lugoff; daughters, Pamela Joy Padula (John) of Chapin, Jana Lynn Brown (Rob) of Lexington, Kristy Ann Goldstein of Lake Worth, FL.; grandchildren, Matthew Padula (Emily), Kayla Carter (Derrick), Sarah Padula, Jeff Edwards, Kristen Brown, Jacob Brown, Adam Brown; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Nathan Padula. She is also survived by two sisters, Donna Prichard of Bellevue, WA and Janet Thomas of Evansville, IN. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Jay Edwards.
