"William J. Hunnell, 49, of Brave, died at 2:30 AM Monday, February 21, 1949 in Green County Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born March 12, 1899 in Center Township, a son of the late Leonard and Mary Wilson Hunnell. He was never married. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church at Brave.
"Mr. Hunnell was a veteran of World War I [His tombstone inscriptions indicate that he served in Company K, 110th Infantry, 28th Division] and was a member of James Farrell Post No. 330, of Waynesburg. He was an employee of the Peoples Natural Gas Company. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Alta Tustin, of West Waynesburg, and one brother, Oscar Hunnell, of Brave with whom he had made his home for the past 28 years."
