William Douglas Sr was born on September 29, 1937 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the son of Dossie B Black (1910-1993) and Stella Ellie (Harvey) Black (1911-1982).

He served in the US Army during the 1961 Berlin Crisis. After that he was a Montgomery County Highway Supervisor for 18 years, was a member of Locust Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of McAllister Masonic Lodge.

William was married to Lawanda "Patsy" Hughes.

A resident of Palmyra, Montgomery County, he passed away on November 27, 2005 at Vanderbilt Hospital Medical Center in Nashville.

Survivors include his wife; a son; and two sisters.

William was buried in Louise United Methodist Church Cemetery in Montgomery County, with Honorary Pallbearers being members of Locust Grove Men's Sunday School Class.
