Joseph A. Eaton, Sr. was born in Houston, Texas on October 29, 1950. Joe was a veteran of the United States Navy; a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Hitchcock where he served as a Deacon; member of La Marque Masonic Lodge #373 F & AM Prince Hall Affiliation; and retired from Dow Chemical after 29 years of dedicated service.

Joe answered his call to eternal rest on July 29, 2011, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston at the age of 60.

Left to celebrate his life are his devoted wife, Elise Faye Eaton; his children, Joseph A. Eaton, Jr., Deana J. Eaton, Shametria Washington and Kristi Giles; grandchildren, Katherine Eaton-Branch, Jazmine Eaton, Jomia Christophe and Christopher Giles; his siblings, Alma L. Curl, Julia A. Holland-Williams, Deborah L. Arceneaux, Chester D. Eaton, Claudia Pipken, Camella Gibson (Hollis), Linda Price (Dwayne), Brenda Bryant (James) and Phillip Green; his in-laws, Ruthie Cook (James), Carrie Henderson, James Jeter (Ruby) and Elijah Jeter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and devoted friends and neighbors.

Services will be held at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, 6333 Highway 6 in Hitchcock with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 5th followed by a Celebration of Life from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Home Going Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011, at the church with Pastor S. D. Siverand, officiating, and Pastor Emeritus B. J. Hunter, eulogist. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock with full Military and Masonic Honors.
