Born 13 August 1920 to James Alfred Nelson and Clara L. Folsom in Salt Lake City, Utah.
An active member of the LDS Church, she served in many leadership and teaching positions. She also served with her husband as an Ordinance Worker in the Salt Lake Temple.
She enjoyed drama, music, genealogy, and writing poetry and histories. She was grateful for her life, her faith, her testimony, and for the goodness for the Lord, and also for the many precious moments that her choice, loving family, and many special friends helped her enjoy.
She believed in being "honest, true, chase, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men"…if there were anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, she sought to be an example of these things.
Preceded in death by her husband, an infant son (Donald), her parents, sisters, Eloise Nelson and Edna Weymouth; and brother, James Dee Nelson. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her children: Stephen (Connie) and Carol (Thomas) Tolman of Bountiful, Marilyn (David) Thurgood of Lindon, Utah; and Kenneth (Anne) of Valley Center, California; twenty-five grandchildren and sixty-nine great-grandchildren. Also two brothers, Lenzi (Shirley) Nelson of Roy, Utah and Richard F. Nelson of Exeter, California.
The family gives a special thanks to the staff members at Welcome Home and Mountain Region Hospice for their kind care of Mother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bountiful Eleventh Ward Chapel, 2000 South Orchard Drive. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday prior to the services.
