SUSPECT IN PINEVILLE DEATHS STOPPED AT U.S.-MEXICO BORDER
ANDERSON, MO.-U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspectors arrested a suspect in the alleged murders of two Pineville residents as he tried to return to the United States from Mexico.

Levi King, 23, was arrested in a stolen vehicle at an international bridge between El Paso and Juarez, Mexico, said El Paso Police Detective Carlos Carrillo.

King faces charges in McDonald County of two counts of murder for the deaths of Orlie McCool, 70 and Dawn McCool, 47. Dawn McCool was Orlie McCool's from daughter-in-law.

The victims were found by family members checking on their well-being about 10 a.m. Friday at 340 Pleasant Ridge Road in rural Pineville, according to a McDonald County Sheriff's statement on Saturday.

McDonald County Sheriff's deputies and Missouri Southern State University crime-lab representatives investigated the crime scene, the sheriff's statement said.

King is also considered a suspect in a burglary in which three firearms were stolen from his father's home according to the statement.
Ballistics test confirmed that the weapon used to commit the alleged homicides was one stolen from King's father's home, according to the sheriff's department.

Orlie McCool's 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup and a .380-caliber hand gun were missing from the McCool residence.

U. S. Customs and Border Protection inspectors attempt to check each vehicle at the bridge between the United States and Mexico. The pickup King was driving was reported stolen, according to Carrillo. Once he was detained, a national crime database listed King's warrants for the McDonald County homicide. The border patrol inspectors then notified teh El Paso Police.

"This individual was coming from Juarez to El Paso on the Bridge of the Americas at 9:30 p.m. Friday," Carrillo said of King. "The suspect also had various firearms in his possession."

Charges filed Friday by McDonald County Prosecutor Steve Geeding
included two counts of murder, a count of first degree burglary, a count of armed criminal action, a count of second degree burglary and stealing.

King is also wanted for parole violation and for being an absconder from a halfway house in St. Louis, MO., according to the sheriff's statement. King was convicted of arson and was sent to the Missouri Department of Correction on July 3, 2003.

McDonald County Sheriff Don Schlessman said King had been staying at his father's home, just three or four miles away from where the victims lived.

King's father was apparently taking him to the bus station in Anderson at 7:30 a.m. Thursday when he fled. The suspect's father reported the burglary and theft of weapons at his home about 5:30 p.m.

King was transferred at 3:30 a.m. Saturday to the El Paso Police Department, according to the sheriff's department. He will be housed at the El Paso County Jail as he awaits extradition.
