Frederick “Fritz” Tittl, age 80, of 1216 S. 13th St., Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday evening, Nov. 15, 2009, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Fritz was born Jan. 14, 1929, at Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Ludwig and Martha Kautz Tittl.
He was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1947.
He proudly served his country with the United States Air Force overseas in the Korean Conflict. Fritz was stationed at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, and in 1953-1954, Fritz was honored to be part of the 607th Air Control and warning Squadron. Upon being honorably discharge from the military, Fritz returned to Manitowoc and became the manager of the A & P for 27 years. He then became the owner and operator of the Park Café for the next 10 years and then he became employed with Manitowoc Company from where he retired.
On June 23, 1951, he married Rita M. Daley at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc .
Fritz was a member of the American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto-Oas Post No. 659. In past years Fritz was the president of the school board at St. Boniface Catholic School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Fritz also enjoyed his hobby of woodworking and loved to cook for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Rita; loving father of his four children: Julie Dale) Braunel, Manitowoc; Peter (Susan) Tittl, Bakersfield, Calif.; Dave Tittl and special friend Lori Schultz, Niagra, Wis.; Paul (Julie) Tittl, Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother: Siegfried “Zeke” Tittl, Manitowoc; two sisters: Betty Linn, Calif.; Ruth (Paul) Arndt, Manitowoc; one step-brother: Mel (Janis) Schack, Fla.; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Tittl.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeremy Vance officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88 immediately following the funeral services. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and crematory North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
