William Alexander "Alex" Agner, 92, died at the Madison County Memorial Hospital on Sunday morning, January 20, 2013. Born in Madison County on December 6, 1920, he spent most of his life in the county, except for several years in western Tennessee.
He was a member of the Barbara Memorial Grace Church. For many years, he was involved in the turpentine business and, in his later years, was employed by the Madison Pallet Company.
He is survived by two daughters: Helen (Jimmy) Williamson of Nephi, Utah and Mary (Terry) Frownfelter of Chapin, S.C.; four grandchildren: Melinda Lee (Vince) Dye, Delbert Onda (Tina) Williamson, Cynthia Morine Phillipsen and Ira Alexander (Michelle) Williamson; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; sisters: Mildred Agner, Shellie Duran and Joyce Williams; and brothers, James Carroll, Sr. (Kitty), Robert, Paul, Sam (Jan) and Walter.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Willie James and Fannie Agner and brothers, Joe Dean, Cole, John and Raymond.
Funeral services will be held at Barbara Memorial Grace Church on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Barbara Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home in Madison.
