Dewey E. Dailey, age 89 of Athens, died Monday afternoon, July 12, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Born Nov. 11, 1920 in Lodi Township, Athens County, he was the son of the late George and Audrey Norris Dailey. He attended school in a one room school house near Clarks Chapel Church and graduated from Ames-Bern High School.
He retired from Columbia Gas, after 42 years of service as a supervisor. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of Columbia Gas. A former resident of Amesville, he served the village as Constable, Village Council member and Mayor. He was a former member of the Ames-Bern Fire Dept. and served as Chairman of the Ames-Bern Firemens Festival. He was a member and past master of Amesville Lodge 278 F&AM and a member of Athens Chapter 175 O.E.S. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
