Willet, Dec. 12--George B. Palmer
died Friday morning, Dec. 7. He had
been ill of a cold and grip several
weeks and on Thanksgiving day be-
came worse and pneumonia developed,
which caused his death. Mr. Palmer
a son of Sherebiah and Rosina Jones
Palmer, was born in Willet, Nov. 4,
1850 and spent his life here. For many
years he owned and managed a farm
south of the village. When his health
became impaired he sold the farm to
Calvin Dries and purchased a home in
the village where he has since resided.
On Jan. 1, 1873, he was united in mar-
riage to Mary R. Meacham who died
March 17, 1889. On Feb. 25, 1891, he
was married to Florence Barker, who
survives him. Mr. Palmer had two
adopted sons, Leon, who died April 25,
1924, and Clifford, who resides in Cort-
land.
The funeral was held at the M.E.
church, of which he had for years been
a member, Monday, Dec. 10. Rev.
George Harrison of Scranton conducted
the service. Among out of town people
who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Bliss, Mrs. Lena Rorapaugh, Mr. and
Mrs. Clyde Bliss, Dr. and Mrs. M. L.
Halbert, Miss Else Halbert of Cincin-
natus, Lawrence Barker of Taylor, Mr.
and Mrs. A. S. Babcock of Binghamton,
Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Burnap of Great
Bend, Pa., Mr. and Mrs. Cruzon of
Tully, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Purdy, Mr.
and Mrs. William Tompkins and Mrs.
Charles Clark of Whitney Point.
