Patrick "Pat" James Farmer, 70, of 103 Lakeland Drive, died October 14, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

A native of Greer, son of the late Houston Martin and Edith Ballenger Farmer, he was a U.S. Marine Veteran, a retired production control supervisor for Homelite/John Deere for over 40 years, and a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

He was a charter member of Greer High School Hall of Fame and a lifelong football coach and assistant with Greer Recreational Leagues and Riverside High School.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Martin Farmer of the home; two daughters, Christine "Chris" Cross and her husband, Kevin of Taylors and Jill Roberts and Jeff Calhoun of Greer; and two brothers, Dr. Mike Farmer of Tigerville and Tony "Sarge" Farmer of Reidville.

He was known as Papa Pat to his four grandchildren, Carson Haley Cross, Cam Scott Cross, Collin "Bobo" Roberts, and Chandler Patrick Roberts.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Bob Goulart. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

Honorary escort will be the former football players that were coached under Mr. Farmer.

Visitation will be held 7:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home.
