Randy Lynn Montgomery, 47, of 209 Dave Simerly Road, Hampton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 08, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was a son of the late George and Earlene Wilson Montgomery and was born in Elizabethton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Glenn Simerly and a sister-in-law, Amanda Simerly Shell. Mr. Montgomery was a 1982 graduate of Hampton High School. He was an employee of Alemite Corporation and was a member of Limestone Cove First Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed working on cars, gardening, cooking, spending time with his family and serving in his church. Mr. Montgomery is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Melody Montgomery, one son, Nicholas George Montgomery; two brothers, Fred Montgomery and his wife, Kathy; Rick Montgomery and his girlfriend, Donna Dye, all of Elizabethton; mother-in-law, Barbara Simerly, Hampton; four brothers-in-law, David Simerly and his wife Tammy, Richard Shell and Doug Huskins, all of Elizabethton; John Simerly, Hampton; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Montgomery will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 11, 2011 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. JC Sheets and Rev. Dwayne Riddle officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sandra and Whitney Tipton, Juanita Simmons and Elmer Ray Roberts. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday prior to the service in the chapel. Friends may also call at the residence of Mr. Montgomery's mother-in-law, Barbara Simerly, 201 Dave Simerly Road, Hampton, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 12th at the John Whitehead Cemetery in Hampton. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 9:15 AM on Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert Benfield, Chris Hodges, Robbie Tolley, Greg Holtsclaw, Tony Bennett, Scott Beaver, Billy Smith, Brandon Hodges, Sid Smith and Jerry Irick.
