Ms. Louise Jones Davenport, age 78, died Wednesday afternoon, June 16, 2010, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

A native of Greene County, she was born June 17, 1931, the daughter of James Franklin and Eva Gray Jones. She was a lifetime member of Rainbow United Methodist Church and served her community as chairman of the Greene County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Ms. Jones retired from the Lenoir County Department of Social Services.

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service the Reverend Tony Calhoun officiated. Burial followed in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Kinston, NC.

Survivors include her children, Eva Lou Davenport Brown and husband Dan, of Apex, Scott Davenport and wife Billie Jean, of Sneads Ferry and Robert Davenport and wife Lou Ann, of Hookerton; sisters Jewel J. Brown and husband Sila, of Snow Hill, Sue J. Watson of Kinston and Linda J. Teseneer and husband Charles, of Statesville; brothers Harold Jones of Kinston and Franklin Jones and wife Margie, of Hookerton; sister-in-law Ruby Harper of Snow Hill; and grandchildren, Taylor Davenport, Dylan Brown, Jordan Brown, Zachary Daven-port, Mary Scott Davenport, Michael Heath and Emily Heath. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 267 Harper Drive, Snow Hill.
