Katherine E. (Hogan) Callahan of Quincy, formerly of Roxbury, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at age 89. A homemaker, she was a former lunch monitor at the Lincoln Hancock School and was a faithful communicant of St. John's and St. Joseph's Churches. The beloved wife of the late Dennis J. Callahan, Kaye was the loving mother of Patricia Farrell of Weymouth, Virginia "Ginny" St. Angelo of Quincy, Kathleen Marcucci and her husband Louis "Buster" of Hull, Robert "Sauce" Callahan and his wife Katie of Dorchester, Joseph Callahan and his wife Patty of Medfield, Kevin "Cal" Callahan of Abington, Brian Callahan and his wife Christine of Weymouth, Mark Callahan and his wife Michelle of So. Boston and the late Michael, Dennis, Thomas and Peter Callahan and Mary Wallace; devoted grandmother of 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; loving sister of Francis Hogan of Chelsea and the late Thomas, George and Walter Hogan and Josephine Morrow. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 44 School St., Quincy. Burial is at Mt. Benedict Cemetery, W. Roxbury. Kaye's family would like to thank Marina Bay Skilled Nursing Ctr. for their special loving care over the past ten years.
