Mildred Emory Farmer, 90, of Colonial Heights, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013.

She was born June 15, 1923, to the late Robert L. and Glenna Johnson Emory. Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Webster Farmer, and a daughter, Carol F. Gay. Mrs. Farmer retired as an L.P.N. from Southside Regional Medical Center and was a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Howard and husband, Dean; a son-in-law, David Gay of Powhatan; grandchildren, Melissa Nolan Barkley of Chesterfield, Angela Skorupski and husband, John, of South Carolina, Janie Arnold of California, Richard W. Arnold of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, William T. Barkley, Kyle A. Barkley, Ryan E. Barkley, all of Chesterfield, Theresa Earls of South Carolina, Lily Lewis of California, Victoria Arnold of North Carolina, Allison Arnold of North Carolina.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Donald Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the of Virginia, 9221 Forest Hill Ave., Richmond, VA 23235. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
