State Sen. Sam Vadalabene, 79, chairman of the minority (Democratic) caucus in the Illinois Senate, had served in the General Assembly since 1967 and Senate since 1971.
A resident of Edwardsville, he died of a heart attack Sunday, May 1, 1994, in a Maryville nursing home, where he had been undergoing kidney dialysis since last year. Illness had kept him away from Springfield for more than a year.
