*** CIVIL WAR Veteran ***
date of service: Aug. 24, 1862 to June 30, 1865 as rank of Pvt.
Assigned to NY 3rd Regiment, Company K, Light Artillery.
He was mobilized in combat at these Battles:

Rawls Mill on Nov. 2, 1862 in N.C.
Kinston on Dec. 14, 1862 in N.C.
White Hall on Dec. 16, 1862 in N.C.
Goldsboro on Dec. 17, 1862 in N.C.
Chaffin's Farm on Sept. 29 - 30, 1864 in Va.
Petersburg on June 9, 1864 to March 25, 1865 in Va.

His brother's, William Augustus Scott and John Albert Scott, also fought in the same battles. All 3 brothers were mustered out of Richmond, Virginia at the end of the war. After the war his brothers shortly resided in or near Wolcott, Wayne, NY. instead of Weedsport/Brutus/Sennett, Cayuga co., NY.
Orrin had moved to Bulter, NY just south of Wolcott.
According to 1865 Town of Butler, NY census that their father William, mother Joanna, siblings Walter, Sarah and Josephine were living there and William was a farmer. Apparently, the family moved from Cayuga county after 1860 and returned before 1870 to Brutus/Weedsport. This is why after the Civil War the 3 sons had resided near their parents.

Orrin Edgar Scott died on August 2, 1865 as a Civil War soldier. His death was from a disease he contracted during his time in service. - * information taken from "Record of Soldiers and Officer in the Military Service " as documented after the war in the year 1865. Even though Orrin did not die in combat or during the war his illness was directly related from his participation in the Civil War. His parents should of had received compensation from New York State or Federal government but it is unlikely they did.

Siblings:
3 brothers: John Albert, William Augustus and Walter S. Scott;
3 sisters: Amanda, Sarah J. and Josephine Scott.

Actual place of burial is unknown. Closest cemetery between Savannah, Wayne, NY and Butler, Wayne, NY (his last known residence) was the larger Butler-Savannah cemetery. Local and current cemetery listings do not provide Orrin's name as he was buried in the local vacinity 4 miles north of Savannah which basically means Butler-Savannah cemetery.
Either the grave marker was never placed or grave site was vandalized and last that mother nature destroyed it. Wayne County should find his grave and restore it with Civil War veteran honors.
