Vera Iona Taylor Gordon passed away July 9, 2010 at the age of 92. She was born November 13, 1917 in Carroll County, Mississippi to John and Mattie Taylor. Vera graduated from Grenada High School in 1936 and worked as a bookkeeper for the Superintendent of Education. In 1942 she married Winfred Hicks Gordon (1920 - 1989) and spent 24 years raising their six children traveling England, France and Northeaster US during his Air Force career. They settled in Tucson in 1954. Vera is survived by her brother, Noble Everette Taylor of Georgia and her sisters, Polly Murphee of Mississippi and Johnnie Barranco of Oklahoma. Also survived by sons, John Gordon of Arizona, Raymond Gordon of Nevada and Robert Gordon of Georgia. Vera was very proud of her 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Vera was preceded in death by her children, Vera Jean Johanssen, Winfred Hicks Gordon Jr. and Debra Prahar. Services will be held Friday, July 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, Arizona.
