Marvin C. Hoover, 76, of Midland, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at the MidMichigan Medical Center, Midland.

He was born on June 20, 1929, in Midland to the late Harry and Lena (Perry) Hoover. He married the former Ruth I. Bell on Dec. 15, 1948, in Washington D.C. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1998. Marvin had been employed as a pipefitter by The Dow Chemical Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1949. He was a member of the American Legion Berryhill Post, the Sanford Eagles and the Midland Moose. Marvin enjoyed his grandchildren and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Marjorie Church of Sanford; his sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde and Susan Hoover of Midland, Rick and Pat Hoover of Sanford, Terry Hoover of Midland and Marvin Jr. and Debbie Hoover of Midland; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Bea Hoover of Midland; sister Vivian Gucheck of Midland; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Marguerite. He was preceded in death by his brothers Dale and Gene Hoover; and his sisters, Genevieve "Susie" Bell and Rose Lockhart.
