Evelyn, my maternal grandmother's sister, died unexpectedly of an infection brought on from an ill-performed medical procedure. She was buried at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery according to her death certificate.
I have walked the cemetery and was unable to find her grave. I spoke with a longtime member of the church who said over the years many neglected graves sank and deteriorated to the point of being hazardous to church members walking through the cemetery. So some graves were covered over with fresh dirt to level the ground and because burial records were not always well documented early on, those graves are lost to time. The exact location of her grave is unknown.
