Arthur P. PRATT was born in Decatur County, Indiana, March 25, 1838, and departed this life at his home in Fairplay Township, Greene County, Indiana April 17, 1915, aged 77 years and 22 days. His parents were Artemas and Nancy N. PRATT. He was the oldest of eight children, all of whom preceded him to the grave except his brother William M. PRATT, of Owen County, Indiana, and a sister, Mrs. C. C. DUNN, of Stinesville, Indiana. He moved with the family from Decatur County to Owen County, Indiana, in 1853, and remained there till about 1867, when he emigrated to Missouri, where he resided about eight years and then returned to Owen County, where he resided till 1885, when he came to Greene County and settled at his late home. He was married to Salena HINOTE in 1860. To them six children were born, but only two survive him, Arthur H. PRATT, Blaine, Washington, and Mrs. Doral DORSEY, Chitopa, Kansas. One of his last children to pass away was Victor PRATT, of Washington Township, Greene County. His first wife died in 1875, and two years afterwards he was married to Mrs. Amanda (LEHMAN) KEENE. Four children were born to them, but only two are living, Mrs. George SHEPHERD, Fullerton, California, and Mrs. Gladys O’NEAL, Bloomfield. There are also two stepchildren surviving him, McNaught KEENE, Greene……now Mrs. Joetta LEHMAN, when she was only four years old, to whom he could have been no kinder if she had been his own, and she loved and ministered to him as if he were her father. He has 23 grand children and three great grandchildren living. For the last two years he had been in declining health, but he was only confined to his bed about two weeks. Besides the other members of his family his beloved wife survives him. The funeral services were conducted from his late residence by Elder J. A. SPENCER last Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock and his body was laid to rest in the Grandview Cemetery at Bloomfield.
