Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Reuben BORTER, well-known Bloomfield resident who passed away Friday morning at his home on West Spring Street. Mr. BORTER was born near Bloomfield in April 1858, the son of Henry and Anna (BOOHER) BORTER. He had spent his entire life in and around Bloomfield and was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Antioch Christian Church. He is survived by the wife Rosa, and the following children, Mrs. Tillie STRAUSER, Bloomfield; Roy BORTER, Bloomfield; Earl BORTER, Newberry; Mrs. Willard STEIN, Gary; and Dale BORTER, Gary. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Amos WOODHOUSE, Newberry, and Mrs. Mattie HAYWOOD of near Linton. The Rev Charles W. LAYTON was in charge of the service. Burial was made in Grandview Cemetery. Lester Jenkins and Sons in charge of arrangements.
