German Philosopher and Theologian. Student of Immanuel Kant, he graduated in Theology at the University of Konigsberg, now Kaliningrad. After a brief period spent to teaching in the city of Riga, he began a long series of cultural travel through Europe, during which he met Goethe, with whom he joined the literary movement known as Sturm und Drang. In 1798, he criticized the ideas of Kant and wrote the essay "Metakritik zur Kritik der reinen Vernunft". In it he argues that language is the organ of Reason, in contradiction with the Kantian dualism of intellect and sensitivity. The reason, according to him, is the organic complex of all human forces, the complex government of his nature sensitive, cognitive and volitional. During his life, he published several essays, including "Von deutscher Art und Kunst. Einige fliegende Blätter", "Von der der Gabe Sprachen am ersten christlichen Pfingstfest", "Briefe zur Beförderung der Humanitat".
