Mrs. Baldwin to be buried here

Mrs. Joe D. Baldwin, one of Morgan County's best known citizens, died Tuesday at DeKalb General in Atlanta. Mrs. Baldwin, 65, was the former Elizabeth Harris, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Harris of Campton.

She was educated in Monroe schools and came to Madison with Federal Land Bank. She worked with the bank for forty-two years and was honored on several occasions by members of the board.

She was married to Mr. Baldwin in October, 1949. They were a devoted couple and were active in civic and social life here.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Madison where she taught Sunday School. For many years she taught in the Primary Department and in recent years has been teacher for the Loyal Daughters Class. She was also president of the UMW. She served as six years as Conference Secretary for the Wesleyan Service Guild, traveling throughout the area to church meetings. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and was an active supporter of the Morgan County Foundation Inc. and Madison Morgan Cultural Center.

She is survived by her husband Joe Baldwin, Clerk of Morgan County Superior Court.

Funeral services are set for two o'clock Thursday afternoon at the First United Methodist Church. The Reverend Charles Thomas, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Madison Memorial Park at Madison Cemetery.
