Barbara Jean Layes, 70, of Fort Smith entered into rest on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, in Fort Smith.
She was born June 24, 1943, in Gassaway, W.Va., the daughter of the late Albert and Louise Carr.
She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Bailey; and a brother, Albert Carr Jr.
Survivors include her children, James Allen Layes, Larry Robert Layes, Kevin Alvincent Layes and Jennifer Elizabeth Freeman, all of Fort Smith; sister, Lona York of Shelby, N.C.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing and family visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. Barbara will be interred with her late husband, Jerry Layes, at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith.
