Stella Gates, 102, the oldest resident of Garvey Manor and Our Lady of the Alleghenies Residence, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, died Saturday at Garvey Manor.

She was born in Coupon, daughter of the late George and Cora (Litzinger) Donoughe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, on Nov. 7, 2000; a son, Glenn; an infant grandson; an infant granddaughter; a granddaughter, Corinne Sick; sons-in-law: Dan Minori and Emil Minori; brothers and sisters: Norma Eckenrode, John, Ralph, Patrick, Robert, Edna Stump, Iva Dougherty, Thelma Booterbaugh, Ita Donoughe, Mary Cogan, Ethel Malone and Reba Kenner; and a special nephew, Bernie Lytle.

She is survived by her children: Colleen Minori of Mechanicsburg, Jo Ann Minori of Syracuse, N.Y., Wayne (Jean Rourk) of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Marian Mentch (Bill) of Altoona; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; special nephews: Bob Lytle and Pat Lytle; special niece, Eleanor Berger; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

Stella worked as a housekeeper for St. Mark's Catholic Church for 18 years.

She was a former member of Juniata Senior Citizens and oldest member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, the Rev. Ronald Osinski, Celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1 until 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Stevens Mortuary, where a vigil service will be held.

Contributions may be made to Garvey Manor Nursing Home in Stella's memory.
