Gordon Frederick Barbarossa, age 91 of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and formerly Edina, MN passed away peacefully on September 27, 2013. Preceded in death in 2011 by his beloved wife of 66 years, Martha Barbarossa and brother, Russell Barbarossa. Survived by children, Bob Barbarossa (Suzanne), Carol Alber (Tim); grandchildren, Kimberli Hassel (Chris), Andre Barbarossa, Brett Alber (Lorra), Chad Alber; great-grandchildren, Kati & Lexi Hassel, Ivey, Beau & Anabelle Alber. Gordy grew up in St. Cloud, MN. In 1946, after his Army service, he started Barbarossa & Sons, Inc., a construction company that continued for 62 yrs. He had a love for golf and gin rummy but what were most important to him in life were his family and his faith in God. He will be deeply missed by those who love him. Memorial donations may be sent to Christ Church, 4845 NE 25th Ave., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33308. Funeral service 1:00 pm, Friday, Oct. 4th at Forest Lawn North, 200 West Copans Rd, Pompano Beach, FL with visitation starting at 12:30.
