Military Funeral

The body of Claude E. Bair, who died Nov. 1, 1918 in a French hospital, was brought here Saturday for burial.

Funeral services were held in the U. B. church Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Ella Niswonger. Members of the American Legion attended in a body, a military escort being a part of the funeral cortege. Burial was made in the Astoria Cemetery.

A large crowd of sympathizing friends of the family were present to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased.

Pvt. Bair was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bair and besides his father and mother, is survived by four brothers and four sisters, namely, Lawrence, Herschel, Carl, Fred, Mildred, Mary, Pauline and Nellie all at home.
