WELLERSBURG, Pa. — Gladys M. Powers, 91, of White Row, Wellersburg, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 5, 2009. Born May 1, 1918 in Kennells Mill, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Charles T. and Jennie Mae (Kennell) Weimer. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. “Buddy” Powers in 2007. She is survived by sisters, Violet Shockey and husband Ed and Phyllis McKenzie, all of Wellersburg; nieces, Sandy Shumaker and husband Dave, Denise Bonner and husband John, all of Wellersburg; nephews, Charles McKenzie and wife Diane of Ellerslie, Gary Shockey and wife Terry of Mt. Savage. She was a member of Comps Church Assembly of God. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., Hyndman, Pa. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Shockey officiating. Burial will follow at White Oaks Cemetery, Meyersdale, Pa. During Gladys’s time of illness the family would like to give honor to Terry, Mindy, Gary and Brandon for the care they provided. Terry, whose heart of gold, genuine love and willingness to serve brought Gladys comfort and joy for the 18 months before her passing.
