Kathryn (Kay) L. Anhalt, a Manitowoc resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc. She was born May 22, 1917 in Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Kugler) Jagemann. Kay was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1935. On July 24, 1943, she married Joseph A. Anhalt at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death February 14, 1972. Kay was a Red Cross volunteer at Holy Family Hospital for 14 years. She was also a past member of the Christian Mothers of Holy Innocents Catholic Church. Kay's love of golf brought her to the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA where she was a golf instructor on all levels for many years. She also instructed the children of the Manitowoc Elks Club members and was a twelve-time club champion at the Branch River Country Club. Kay's love of golf took her all over the world but teaching her family and friends made her the happiest. Due to Kay's passion and talent in the golfing community, she became the first woman inducted into the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame in 1978. But more than anything else, Kay was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She loved spending time with her family- traveling, enjoying dinners together and laughing at the antics of her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her three children: Craig Anhalt & special friend: Judy Hall, Cato; Steve & Kathy Anhalt, Eagan, Minnesota; and Lori & Tim Frerichs, Two Rivers; eight grandchildren & their families: Troy & Char Anhalt and their children: Nathan & Harrison Anhalt; Trevor Anhalt, Melissa Anhalt and their children: Courtney Smith, Samantha, Justin & Jonathon Anhalt; Sarah and Matt Garrison and their children: Jessica & Benjamin Garrison; David Anhalt, Rachel Anhalt & her fiancé: Brian Benson, Kathryn & Derek Nichols, Megan LeClair & special friend: Chris Netzel and Allison LeClair. Special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Kay was preceded in death by her loving sister Betty Warren. Special thanks to Kay's guardian angels, Kris Abbott and her family Beth, Rachel, Andrew & Jane for their love and care in Kay's last years of life. Another special thank you to Kay's in-home caregivers for their unconditional love and support along with the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center for providing Kay with compassionate care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 until 10:45 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
