Funeral services for Joseph Colfax McDole Sr., 78, of Rosenberg will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Calvary Baptist Church, 4111 Airport Road in Rosenberg with Dr. Steve Porter officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy W. Gauny, Lee Cook, Doug Holmes, Ray Hyde, Ken Redmond and Ronnie Swallers. Honorary pallbearers will be A.V. Fairley, Virgil Starbuck, Huey McCoulskey, Clyde Steapp, Doug Cavender, John Surguy and Joe Driskill.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 19 and from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday at Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street in Rosenberg.

Mr. McDole passed away Sunday, May 16, 1999 at Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston. He was born Jan. 28, 1921 in Flilnt, Mich. to parents Dale Adams McDole and Alverda Halteman McDole.

He served in the Merchant Marines prior to and during World War II until he was discharged April 24, 1945. He was employed by Houston Power & Light for 35 years where he finished his career as Supervisor of Training at the W.A. Parish Plant. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Gartman McDole of Rosenberg; a daughter, Sharon Ann Davis and her husband, Leland, of Blessing; a son, Joseph Colfax McDole Jr. and his wife, Malia Ann, of Tyler; brothers, James J. McDole and his wife, Jan, and Jack Adams McDole and his wife, Beverly, all of Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Zoe McDole Hanson and her husband, Richard, of Caballa, N.M.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
