Roscoe David Hall, 86, of Salem, died Sunday, September 6, 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Reynolds Jones Hall; 8 brothers and sisters, including Mark Hall and Mabel Andrews of Roanoke. He is survived by his loving daughter, Betty Jones Rice of Baltimore, Md.; many nieces; nephews; grand nieces; grand nephews. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a devoted member of Melrose Christian Church for 64 years, where he served as Elder and Choir member. He was a soft spoken and gentle man and a devoted husband and father. Mr. Hall was a master cabinetmaker, who worked for several Roanoke area companies, including 30 years at Valley Lumber Co. His craftsmanship can be found throughout businesses and homes in the Roanoke Valley, Williamsburg and various other parts of the state. In gratitude for the loving and tender care he received during his last year by the staff at The Oaks, the family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the Roscoe Hall Memorial Fund - The Richfield Foundation (The Oaks), P.O. Box 3240, Salem, Va. or Melrose Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 1998 at Lotz Salem Chapel with Dr. Norman Witthuhn and Dr. George Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial park. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Lotz Salem Chapel.
