Clayton Ely
Mr. Clayton Ely, 84, of Edina passed away Tuesday (February 4, 1992) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Born October 10, 1907 near Edina, he is the son of A. C. and Noma Whiteman Ely. On September 6, 1931, he married Lois Gilliam, who preceded him in death. He later married Helen Davis on May 14, 1974 in Edina. She also preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Noma Edith in infancy; a sister, Doris Ely; a brother, Howard Ely; and a half-sister, Mary Ruth Ely Shalley.
He is survived by a daughter, Lois Ann Klote of Columbia; a son, Augustan "Catsy" Ely of Edina; a stepson, Jerry Davis of Canton; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Victor Ely of Anoka, Minnesota; and a half-sister, Helen Ely Sharp of Edina.
He worked for the Department of Agriculture, as the director of the Knox County ASCS office, for 35 years before retiring.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (February 7, 1992) at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina. Burial will be in the Linville Cemetery in Edina.
